First gig review for 2008. This was reviewed for us by Aftershock Radio resident DJ, Invincibility, based in the London area. Hes a huge life long fan of the oldskool sounds and thats what he went to here

Fever at Club Se1 Mayday Bank Holiday Allnighter.
I had bought my ticket in advance for the event Fever, which was a wise move. Arriving in the London bridge area around 9:30 pm.
I managed to park not far away from the venue in a side street off of the main road under street lighting.
A short 10 minute walk took me along crucifux lane, past druid street and up to Tooley street and the Se1 complex in the tunnel.
Many were allready queing as I expected but not half as many as were half an hour later behind me. Once I had reached the front of the queue,
I was shown inside and asked to remove my NY cap I was wearing and look up at the camera.
Seemingly everyone who was to enter the club would have to have a mug shot.
Then I was ushered through a metal detector, and then had a tight but polite search by security.
I complimented the security and also the operation they were running. I found my way around inside the venue.
Then checked out the set times for various artists who were billed on the flyer. This information was found on the walls,
clearly posted in the five different arenas. Jungle fever arena, Kool London Arena, Fever DnB arena, Epidemic arena and finally, Liquid V arena.
Knowing that I was not able to be in all the arena's all the time, I plucked what I could from the information I found and made a rough plan in my mind.
I felt that most of the night I would be in the Jungle Fever arena.
I made my way around after having a drink from the bar, I took in the visuals. The state of the art lighting was in effect, the original fever backdrops. There certainly was an air of positive anticipation about for what was in store.

DR S Gachet started things rolling with some great early jungle and A.W.O.L style sounds. He was plagued by a duff needle, and I could see this upset him.
I can lip read quite well, and this was of some amusement to me. Respect to him for warming things up and getting on, happens to all real DJ's.

I made my way into the Epidemic room and found the likes of Slipmatt, shut up and dance, Billy bunter and mc's Cutter
and free flow warming things up there. I had a moment in there with the music I heard that took me back and way back!.
Like a nutter I was freaking out in my day glow vest like being at Fantazia 92. Once I had exhausted myself somewhat
I decided to check out the Fever DnB arena. The room was packed to the rafters and with DnB smashing the place.
DJ Ruffstuff, Bryan G, Ecksman, Skibadee and a host of others tearing it up. "Setting the standards of the underground for others to follow"
was the original jungle fever's motto. To this day I feel they still carry it well.

Once back inside the 'jungle fever' arena I found Jumpin Jack Frost, and Five 0. The arena was shocking out.
Quite a few rewinds and the place going nuts!

Shouts, screams, horns and whistles. Some great crowd participation and vibes!
'The Ragga Twins' then were both on stage also rocked it, original fever style.

I had expected to see a B2B AWOL 2 hour special with Mickey Finn and Darren Jay. When Devious D appeared behind the decks,
I gathered that I would not see this. Devious Rude Boy 'D' rocked the arena regardless with some jungle classics.
I saw Darren Jay arrive but there was no sign of Mickey, Darren played well. Dropping some serious anthems and got the place bouncing
with his selection. Time was needed to rehydrate and also try find the smokers area which I did.
I payed 1 for a 'no joke I still smoke' wristband which was of amusement. Queued up and then went outside,
smoked my cigarette whilst enjoying the strange aroma of other smokers 'smoke'.
Being an old skool veteran myself I had to step back into the Epidemik arena. I found Jack Knife and Uncle Dugs B2b
and had shook a leg to a few anthems. Was great to see some familiar faces and feel the Epidemic vibe alive.
After noting that ratpack were due to be going to on at 5am. I took in a few other rooms, none had the vibe the 'jungle fever' arena had.

I went back in there, and there I stayed. The next couple of hours flew by. Kenny Ken was dropping some A.W.O.L classics also
and set it up nice for DJ Randall. Randall tore it down much like Jumping Jack frost did but with a darker edge.
Five 0 on the mic throughout this period with others. More great vibes and also education from MC Five 0. Reaching out to the new skool of ravers.
Laying down the foundations of what Jungle and Drum N Bass has been about.
Peace, love and unity, representing inside a place and not carrying attitude. One family and a unison of people
no matter where your from or what you have. 5 am was soon to approach and it was time to have a bit of Rat Pack.
I made my way out of the Arena and met upon Evenson Allen himself. Greeting him as I did with an "OI OII" aint seen you in years bro good to see ya
I Made my way into the Epidemic Arena and after a short time Rat Pack kicked off.

Evenson Allen and Lipmaster Mark dropped their classic well known choons. Place was going nuts with the Nu skool-Old Skool breaks.
It was great to hear the boys kicking it once again. Notable moments were with the people singing along to SL2's 'On a ragga tip',
and also the Ratpack hit, 'Searchin for my rizla'. Hands were in the air and smiles and vibes were everywhere.
I checked out the other arenas, and stumbled upon the kool fm arena I had been looking for. Things were quiet and civillised in there
with the kool fm squad rolling out the DnB. I figured that it may have been busyer in there if people had bothered to put signs up.
I never actually found the Liquid arena and felt that it was best to finish the night
where I was at home and you guessed it, the 'jungle fever' arena.
The night culminated in a tear it down set from the DJ Brockie with everyone skanking like they got one hour to live or something.
He bashed the place hard with some undiluted pressure. Then a nice welcome surprise as Nicky blackmarket came on at 6am
to finish the proceeding's. I recall a moment when everyone was singing to 'Stevie hypa D' Junglist soldier, and also
a big happy grin from the blackmarket bopping away behind the decks.
The stamina hardcore faithfull rode it out to 7am which came all too quick. The security were ushering everyone out including me,
where I said hang on a moment. I would like to say goodbye to some friends if that is ok? A Salute from Nicky as I saluted him back,
and a warm goodbye from an oldskool ViperDon. This was a great night, not one that will be forgotten in a hurry. 200k of awesome sound across the venue,
state of the art lighting and lasers.
It was well worth the cramp in my legs and sore feet the following day.
If anyone reading this hears of a 'Jungle Fever' or 'Epidemik' event get your arse there.
