Les Valentine- Nervous

Septmeber 29th Crash Records

Nice vocals/ piano song, with not too heavy guitar arrangement.
This rmeinds me of coldplay in style, singer got the edge
great vocals and nicely recorded. Great original song, nothing really out of the ordinary, but great song all round

Modern Cliche - Flaness and Fairytales

Septmeber 29th Crash Records

Going the les fedinand/ hives direction,
with short punky style guitar spirts and soft lead vocal /punk voice.
You dont know what you want to be is a perfect
example of the this style being the title song.
Bass lead falssness and fairness, with the vocals
coming in with a guitar strum. Simple/basic pop/indie song
Not trying tobe different, just a great song and as bit of
Nick cave in this song also
Exactly the same as always with soft gliding vocals.~
another simple song, very appealing to a lot people.
None of these songs are hard hitting in the
sound sense, mild well recorded indie songs
well written, nice to lounge to.
Great ep, worth the purchase, i would get on
7" single if it was pressed put it that way.
Saying that kind of reminds me of the Enemy

AFD SHIFT - Crusade

Out now E.L.T records

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Rock/punk music is beginning to materialise once more
ARF shift have their single, Crusade on nicely pressed 7" vinyl and is great epic of song.
Kind of reminds me of an iron maiden cross Offspring track with a lot going on and great quality and dynamic sound.
Sounds as though there are 20 people in the room playing rather than just a band, this really is song you can hear and again and again.
Great clear recording, great punk vocals, nicely done channel effects with the guitar riffs winding through the track, not over done either
The same can be said for the b side, breathing space.
This wasn't put on just to press a b side, fine track,
which is usually overlooked. The only thing wrong with this song
i find, is no distributer. I dont see anything wrong with this song
as it is, got their own style, pase and flying guitar rifts coming though like an express train.
love the twin vocals on the chorus/ breakdown, vocals are rampant Nothing like a punk/ rock track

Track listing:
Gathering Dust, Dirty weather, Light, Gueswork, deaf Dumb and blind, Cradle, Step by Step, In a Moment, Show Me, Three Days, ophielia,Flowers, Heaven and hell

Fine album, was expecting a folky album, but was wrong.
Nice twin vocal arrangement thoughout, the 12 song album slides along very nicely, clear recording of voices, guitar, nice laid out drums/ machine, synth and various other instuments( various other musicans on the recording)
Gathering dust is the song lifted from album as the single to promote the releaase date, which does lay the ground for album sound. The sound is kinda like Everything but the girl meets All about Eve, but Guess work (Broni and Peter) have their own sound, influences from rock, folk, pop you name it. Suttle nudges to various music styles are all on the album, This is kinda art folk /rock, some might say and although there is big folk influences, there is alot more to this album, although i guess thats where thr routes lie.
Step by step, which is half way through the albumm has the more pop influnce, with more of a pase to it. the album as a whole is very relaxing with various sounds to keep you listening, nice and mellow.

Cover of album above

tracks : momentum, Thie Neverending, Interlude, broken Man, Nahil Atinae, Just Another Reason, Lucky Witness, Action & Lights, I Fear, Earned in Hope and Faith

Harmonic vocals, acoustic breaks, emense heavy powercords are just some of the treats in store with this ten song box of delights. Bicester based six piece, really go hammer and tongues with these songs. Momentum kicks the ignition key with more force than evil. I like the way the music always slows down for the acoustic breaks. This is like a signature for the bands music and is there throughout the album. Then flies into heavy double peddles then rockets, well produced and written. The Neverending is one of my favs all the album, clear vocals, metal riffs, UP LOUD!. Broken Man ( going to be next single)releases the double peddle drums mayhem. Great overlay of lead and rythm guitar. Saying that i like Nahil Atumae, the rolling metal riffs. Clear sound, instruments, vocals, a little swallow the mic deep throat, you got to have that, fine album, seems to get heavier the more you play it. Addictive!

Simple Reason rock / sreamo out Match 2006, to download / CD

CD cover above

Tracks : Empty handed, Fly, I Have You, Shatterproof, As We Go on

This is a fine CD by the band, who live in High Wycome, Oxfordshire, England.
This music is screamo / rock, well produced ep, which was recorded in Lex studios, Dorsest.
The ep starts as all eps should start with a nice guitar scream, then launches into the heavy guitars.
All the songs heavy guitars style with a screamo / singing vocals> The vocals really impressed me with singing and screaming,
although i dont know who does which or weather both guys do both but impressive all the same.
The lyrics are clean so you can listen to them without straining your ears and so is the screaming
The 3rd song Shatterproof is a surpringly mellow, electric acoustic style with minimal drums, very different, which is right in the middle of the ep.
5 songs ep, i like it, although i'm not into much screamo stuff, but this is done well and you will be playing this ep constantly.
They are signed to Crash Records, the band got signed in 2006 and are on tour.

CD Cover above

Tracks : Little Things, Spent, Patchwork Story, Fall Away, Lucy, Right Here, Estelline, Stayed Away, Summer Nights, Better ME

I original contacted Andra through myspace about broadcasting one of her live shows, because she was promoting one of her local gig in the U.S. she sent me her latest album because she didn't have any live recordings.
She is not signed ( why not?). You get that nice warm feeling when you listen to it.
10 songs, superb music worthy of commercial success, Relaxed rock / country / folk.
Andra has got a folk / country background, from a musican family upbringing, very nice long journey up load with the top down on the car music.
Acoustic / Electric acoustic rock, mellow great vocals by Andra, nice clean lyrics, words influenced from where she come from a growing up and her musical travels with her family.
Little Things introduces you to the Andra Suchy sound and flows through the rest of the album. Lucy is a more agressive guitar flowing through then mellows in the chorus. Right here is the song with most country influences with nice overlayed vocals.
Estilline, would sit well on a western film score. Summernight, only song with more of folk/tribal drum style. more emotion is evident, amazing song. Better Me the last song on the album leaves you wanting more.
Produceer by Andrew Pierzine who also runs the studio where they record and also in the band. Not a demo, profesionally produced CD.M

Mmm digital- Obsolute zero album - unreleased

Members - Tom Race
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
not CD sleeve
track listing:Night, Sleep, Dawn, Tetris, The Rift, Polar Cry, Frost, Stasis, Nightmare, Purgatory

This is a fine album. Manchester based Mmm Digital, great production on this, a nice blend of drum & bass and triphop sounds. He has loads of influences and comes across in a variety of ways. He has a unique sound and really brings the music to life. Probably everyones favourite is dawn ( was Never Ending Story) with it's great realtime drumbeat roll, nicely done and the first tune he produced. It then gets darker going into engima background synth territory with dark bass and rattlering beats. The album has changed a little since i saw Tom, its now a concept album with a story behind each song running with the title. Not easy making a decent continual seperate track album, you got to have a flow. he is always writting and producing and so far has four albums produced
From what i have heard and this CD you don't think it will be long before he puts pen to paper.

John Leyton & the orients - Hi Ho Come on England

Picture from Video above

Tracks: Hi Ho Come On England, HI HO dance Version, Hi Ho Come on England (demo)

This is the reworking of hi ho sliver lining for the fourthcoming work cup (2006) which is taking place in germany. Being released nation wide through Crash Records / Helis Records on 15th May 2006, with a video to acompany the single(video shot pictured left)
This is nice jolly sing along song, which has been sent to all 92 club in the country to put over the loud speakers
This will either go well who remembers the singer, or the original Silver Lining, because people will get the simulaites between two. One thing is for sure it's a lot more England friendly and catchy than the embrace song, which is also doing the rounds at the moment. The song is also very old fashioned, which gives it that nice english feel to it. This is the nearest you will get to the three lions song this year.

Sister Morphine

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Not CD sleeve
tracks : Down Stairs Mix up, Money Shot, breathe

This is fine band with a outstanding recording. From the phonic stable, with musicans coming from various line ups comes a louder, heavier sound. Sister Morphone sound is all about rock style riffs, twin vocals, Maude and Jim. The song that stands out is Down Stairs mix up, could chart if it was promoted that way, fine slab of indie rock, the best i have heard from these musicans. Even though there is nothing wrong with the phonic sound. ( former band namw). Deffinitely packs more of a punch, if that was intention then they have succeeded. This ep was recorded at esteeme robot club in Bristol and recorded in two days, fine work as well. This does NOT sound like a demo, far from it

Nussian - three track demo

Image hosted at PICTUB.com
tracks : All This, Maybe, Do you feel

Originally from Russia, now living in the London, this fine solo artist, with a James blunt kind of sound, acoustic / electric guitars, piano and the guys got fine vocals as well. Do you feel is the nice piano song of the three, very nicely produced in his own studio 23 and again does not sound like a demo, recorded and produced in an excellent equipt studio and it comes though also

Negative Space Field - three track demo

Image hosted at PICTUB.com
tracks : Chameleon, track, Rest in Peace

First demo from the band, full up metal. A brother drummer and bass player combo with two guitarist, creating some of the best metal music around.
The first outing very nice steady paced powercord songs, shouting twin vocal arrangment, very nice quality recording as well clear enough vocals, hear every instrument. Nothing is hidden in the overlays
Second song from dusk til dawn mexican guitar plucking influenced intro. slightly more vocal driven song, slight calmer track, heavy chorus. Very nice well written song, with a few more guitar effects, the variety of styles is coming through.
3rd song, guitar / drummer intro, blodding bass, coming together to blast out a heavy powercord monster. Fine guitar solo from smith, deep throat power vocals the song builds up to thrash with heavy laidened basstrack.
fine demo by the band, nicely recorded, really brings out the live qualities of the band, take it that was the intention and works well.

Recorded and mastered at Pangea studios, Banbury

Junkie Brush- hearts and mines ep

Image hosted at PICTUB.com
Tracks : Tracks: Exhume his Corpsae ( and make him dance for money), Now She's dead, Find Anothe way, Monkey Grinder( Nicile Steal remix)

Fine ska /rock band hailing from Oxford. Like EXP from Banbury, their raw punk little more rocker and it comes across. Exhume his Corpse ( good title) (and make him dance for money), rocky track, nicely produced, managing to capture the live feel with the recording with twin vocal track, with a little cure feel on the solo acoustic electric. Here comes the noise, rawer song, now shes dead, bit more thread and slighty more shouting vocals someone dont give a f***k. little bit of beastie boys come through here. here comes the ska, find another way is right, the song is tigherm slidding more into punk ska as the ep rolls on, draws you closer to the speaker or stage where your playing the CD or see them live last but not last a sample intro with money grinder, this is a remix by Nicile Steal, Kidlington based who's done some production and remixer for a few of the band tracks, little more dancer, heavy bass overtone, simpe vocals, nice mix. goign into beastie boy remix production territory, very nice touch. then the zombie goes back into his grave, lol

Staedler and Waldolf: electronic bluresque

Image hosted at PICTUB.com

Cardiff based duo Steadler and Waldorf (Paul Smith & Steve Jones) with their blend of House, trip hop and ambient music with funk and worldy sounds. They have created some fairly unique and don't just sick with a certain sounds
Weather it be ambient Planet Earth, or more dance beat drum & bass of Turn it on with vocals with a slice of old skool. Bangera is obvious from the title, but fine twist with a female Mc over the beats. Angel is the main drum & bass feel tune, kind like a hospital records element to the style with ambient synth production. Because i want you has a hiphop feel to it, slower beats and breaks beat. Bak to the bone is the dance / rock cross over. It is suprising these guys are not
signed to XL(basement jazz / Prodigy label) or some kind of label. The production is commerical standard, no question, don't sound as if it was thrown together in five minutes, vocals by beat Muppets.Peanut and Lacey Chaiff on the various tracks. They have been in several projects
over the last six years, producing dance, funk and rock. I think their funk background helps in various ways with the level of production on the beats and vocal

Be spoke - Rymers lane

Image hosting by Photobucket
Tracks : Dormatory Life, Ordinary Man, Hummer, Cross that Path(deja vu), Up jumps Da Boogie

Local R&B star Bespoke, returns to our ears with a nice lightheart then down the dark alley to the club dance floor 5 track ep, Rymers Lane, featuring Jodie Davies vocals on Cross that path. Each tunes lyrics are ryming from the ground up, down to earth
lyrically solid, flowing then gets deeper as the ep progresses. The tone is set by ordinary man and dormitory life, as the titles suggests Busta rymes influence of hummer, deep bassline. Nice sampling of Zorba the Greek on Cross that Path, nice piano intro, darker side of his
Going the dance floor way with Up Jumps da boogie, feeling the vibes through the dancefloor speakers, the kind of tone set by Sticky with mis dynamite, boo, very simplistic, nice tune

This is a fine ep its avaible in Chalkys and Record Savings in Banbury 5

Various artist - The next tractor

Tracks :Hunka Munka - Back Clouds ( Sliver Lining mix), Nunka Munka - Young Bucks, HUnka Munka - 2 Different Stories, Buddy Lurve & mole hill -Funky Disco House Diva, Buddy Lurve & Mole Hill - Smooth Operate Part 2, F.B.I Sugar - Old Skool Pimp Reunion
Funky Medicine - Sunrae, Uniwide - Cold Heart Killer, Natural Justice - Wakeup call, FourPLY - Connections

One of guys behind this series of albums is drum & bass mystero TMS1(also known as Prisoner of Technology), with ROBIN EE, M.L.E, K-DUB . His most famous commercial release is his remix of intergalactic by the Beastie Boys. The Rehab label is the sister label, all hiphop style, chillout, triphop breakbeat tunes with some fine sampling, some you might recognise from his dnb tunes
Blackclouds is calm intro and young bucks is the first tune with breakbeat. hiphop style feel ( you can see someone breakdancing in the street to this). The main theme of 2 different stories centers around a sample a girl talking about her drug experiences, with a calm laid back synth, makes you think about what she is saying. Then into Fat Boy Slim country with funky disc house Diva and just slides into the other songs, all simulalr, hiphop style beats and very well placed sample and a sample from samuel J jackson ( can't remember movie), but that not a bad thing.... It's a good thing.
